Some folks use essence of chrysanthemum. The only time I use DEET is when I'm camping in some aggressive mosquito ghettos...I remember using it once in Montana and when I held my arm out, they just hovered around it. No bites. But the stuff is too toxic to use on a regular basis. As for the skin-so-soft, it makes me feel too greasy. Mosquitos are just one of those things that are here to remind us that we aren't invincible. Sort of like poison ivy...which I am suffering through currently

I have lots of rosemary in my garden, I eat lots of garlic and take plenty of B vitamins. The mosquitoes don't care. And even the DEET doesn't DEETer them much. I'd have to douse myself in diesel and set myself on fire to get a 2-minute break from the mosquitoes around my apartment.
That was funny. I guess I MUST be mosquito repellent dreamin as I've never tried it. There aren't any mosquitos where I am...except for the ones the size of a silver dollar that we see once in a while. I haven't had a mosquito bite since I left Indiana, 27 years ago. I was hoping someone would try the concoction and let ME know soze I'd be ready when I get there. Some people have sworn by it, I have read...so I guess I'll just have to find out for myself. Maybe you are just tooooo sweet...ya think? Still dreamin.
