So you have a one person sample and that extends to all Asian women? Never mind that the Vietnamese are culturally different than the Chinese who are different than the Korean who are different than the Japanese. Never mind that people, regardless of race/culture are individuals and have different personalities, tastes, habits...

The actions of the OP and what he said he wants differ. He wasn't really looking for a platonic relationship and we all know it.

Is this a requirement you have for your "strictly platonic" friends, Jink? Or, is the OP perhaps not being reasonable in his expectations?
i personally don't care about how my friends look, no, but i have lots of friends who do. it's no wonder why you see attractive males hanging out with other attractive males and attractive females hanging out with other attractive females and mix it up how you want.

More power to you then, but the OP does care how his "platonic friends" look. I personally think he is lying about only looking for platonic friends, but even if he wasn't, he is only looking for friends that he deems as hot as him. And if you have read his posts then you would know he goes on and on and on about how hot he is.

So basically he has limited his potential friend pool to not just white gay men, but he also wants only HOT white gay men that are on craigslist.

And then when they reject him (which is frankly what hot gay men on craigslist do, if they even exist, most gay guys on craigslist are pic collecters IE, they post hot pics of some other guy, hoping you will send them pics of yourself for them to...admire... later), the OP's answer is "all white people are racist!!".

It's foolish. You limit your circle of possible friends to the smallest possible demographic, limit them further to the WORST electronic matchmaker on earth, and the complain that it's proof ALL WHITE people are racist.

Defend the OP all you want Jink, more power to you. But if he, or your friends, base their friendship selection on looks only, then they deserve what they get. If the OP, or your friends, are so shallow and superficial, then they will need to accept the fact that some other people might not find them hot, and therefore not want to be friends. That is the life they chose, don't cry racism.

There is real racism in the world, and people often ignore it b/c people like the OP have desensitized them whenever he cries wolf.

Some posts above were deleted. Use this thread to discuss the issues the OP raised, rather than your own. As it says in the TOS: "Stay on topic. Attempts to hi-jack threads by switching topics or going off topic will be deleted and infractions issued. This is not a chat room - when people hi-jack threads by posting messages that are of interest to only few people, the threads often stop being useful discussions of initial topics."

Race is too much of a hot-button topic to have a freewheeling, rambling discussion about it in a local forum. Focus on the issues the OP raised and try whenever possible to confine the discussion to Austin, since you're posting in the AUSTIN forum!
