Those are all excellent tips. Last time I had to go to the Anderson Mill one it took an hour and a half...I probably hit them at the wrong time.

Funny, I've been to the Anderson Mill location about 3 times in the past 6 years and have never had to wait more than 20 minutes. They've probably gotten a lot busier, I suppose.

PS, in case anyone is interested, in Texas once a driver has reached 85, he/she must appear in person every two years to renew a drivers license, pass an eye exam, have their driving record reviewed, and, at the discrection of the staff person on duty, take the written and/or driving test again.
I'll bet the AARP fought against that. They want the elderly to be able themselves to their own funeral without ever taking another test. I'm suprised to hear Texas has that requirement, but I do think it's a good idea.

Steve

How's the newish office on William Cannon? Better or worse wait than N. Lamar?

What a fortunate revival of a thread. I went by the N 183 office today at around 3 and the line was out the door along the front of the building so I just kept right on going.

Maybe a Georgetown trip wouldn't be a bad idea. I'd much rather drive a bit than sit there waiting forever.

You can do what I did when faced with insane 4+ hour waits in San Antonio: Drive to the office in San Marcos, about 45 minutes south of Austin, walk in and out in 5 minutes.

What is the address for the William Cannon one? I didn't see it listed on TXDPS website.

Don't go first of the month, don't go end of the month. Going to North Lamar mid-morning or mid-afternoon I've never waited more than 20 minutes.

It's the one listed as "Austin South", NE corner of I-35 & Wm Cannon (I haven't been to it yet)
