Milano Cafe on SW Parkway has some excellent coffee. Not really a coffee shop atmosphere, but good coffee prepared by people who really know how to do it.

For atmosphere, Mozart's and Spider House can't be beat. Ruta Maya is also a classic and good for music.

Over the years, there have been some really great coffee houses along the Drag... but I don't know what any of the current ones are like.

I totally embrace my coffee addiction But, from what I've read, energy drinks are far worse than coffee. Right?

I have read that some energy drinks have began causing gynecomastia.

If you're near Hyde Park, you can drop into Quackenbush's on 43rd St.

They have great coffee, their iced coffee is not bitter (like Starbucks or Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's often is) and they have pastries & cookies that are baked daily on site.

Sit outside with your dog or kids and enjoy great people watching in this fab neighborhood, too.

But coffee DOES help prevent gallstones.

Cherrywood Coffeehouse 1400 East 38th 1/2 Street has awesome food and I think their coffee is pretty damn good as well. I don't go there enough.

Russell's bakery has good coffee. Best "coffee house" though, is Upper Crust Bakery. 26 years in Austin, I believe. Locally owned and operated by the same folks all that time.

I highly recommend Cafe Medici for some of the best coffee in Austin. Mozarts has a beautiful location, but don't go there for good coffee.

Cafe Medici along with some other local coffeeshops serve beans roasted by a great local roaster called Cuvee Coffee

I'll do another vote for Mozarts. Specially if you buy their coffee to grind at home. It's my favorite.

Give me good coffee & biscotti every morning, I'm a happy man.
