Being from Texas and having been out of Texas for a long time, I know I am ready to come "home" and Austin is where I am going to land in about 2 months, with a fiancee, a dog, two cats, and a new home. My concern is, I have decided to leave the "cushy job" working with the Department of Defense, and move to Austin with no definite prospects for work. I am very interested in a career change, and am focusing on Home Design. I like to draw and I also like working with children, but likely only in an administrative role. My question is, besides hunting the employment section (i.e. careerbuilder, monster, and the like) I am having a hard time getting my foot in the door with anything and wanted to see if I could get some inputs? My saving grace is my fiancee gets to telecommute and will have a job, but I don't like to sit around so any advice, direction, thougths?

Thanks ahead of time
