I've been told when there's a burn ban that it's best to not use a chainsaw. I have a few acres out in the country and I was wanting to cut some Cedars down with a chainsaw, but of course the county has a burn ban. It is illegal to use a chainsaw in Texas when there's a burn ban? Should I wait until we get some rain (whenever that occurs)?

It may rain this weekend, so wait until after the rain and see if the burn ban has been lifted. Yes, it's illegal to use a chainsaw during the current burn ban.

Is it illegal only to use a gas powered chain saw? I used an electric chain saw a week ago to cut down a tree in my back yard. Was that illegal?

Here are the Travis County burn ban rules. I don't see anything in there about chain saws.

The issue is open flame, not a chainsaw. But be careful!
