Default Heaved Driveway?

We have just noticed that one side of our driveway has heaved, so now we have a step up bump. Does anyone know who to call on something like this. Do we call a sprinkler company, foundation people, or concrete driveway people. We checked the water meter and it is not moving so it must be something else. We thought maybe a sprinkler pipe under the driveway was causeing it. Any help on this problem???

Thank you Debbie.....

Not your new pretty driveway border, I hope??? I have no clue where to start on something like that, but maybe your concrete person can give you some ideas.

Not tree roots, the tree is on the other side of the driveway (live oak).

I sure hope the pavers don't get damaged when we get this fixed. We just don't know who to call about it. Anyone have and idea who to call?

Debbie

Try calling some of these contractors listed at Yelp.com:

Concrete contractors Austin

I've never had the need for one though, so can't recommend anybody.

I'm going to state the obvious here.....the heat? Recently the local news stations have run story after story about the effects of the drought on the infrastructure.

It sounds like you have clay soil or dissimilar soils under part of your driveway. For example, if part of it is on clay and part is on rock, as the clay dries out and shrinks, one side of it could have settled. Or, if one side got water and side did not, the area that is getting water expanded raising that side. A broken sprinkler line is a good guess but there are many possibilities, including tree roots.

I doubt there is much repair work that can be done, other then removal and replacement.

If the situation is drought related and not critical you may not want to move too quickly on repairs. Continued drought and/or a substantial rain event could cause additional ground movement.
