Default Austin neighborhoods with big views and great schools under 350k

So I know Texas hasn't been hit as hard as other states in terms of housing, but here is what my family (wife and 2 elementary aged kids) are looking for.

We would like to find a newer neighborhood with GREAT GREAT schools, big views, decent size backyards, and under 350k. Hoping to find a 4+ bedroom home with around 2300-3000 square feet for under 350k. Is that even possible in Austin without having to go North to Round Rock/Georgetown/Pflugerville/Cedar Park?

I've checked prices in Westlake and it seems out of the price range, but I've seen a few in Steiner Ranch/River Place that could come close to the criteria. Is there anything under that price range off Bee Caves or 360 in that range that fits our criteria?

Thanks for your help Austin!

Under $350k with views? For the size you want, and school district, you could go to Lakeway and Spicewood which would both go to Lake Travis ISD. Spicewood is West on 71. You didn't mention where the job would be to know about a commute especially since you mentioned above you might go north and included Pflugerville in that, which is about 50-60 minutes from Spicewood.

Thanks for the response. One of our jobs is on Bee Caves in between 71 and 360, and the other will be most likely 620/183 area or possibly mopac/slaughter area.

Would love to find something in-between or not too far from one of them both with great schools and under 350k.

If you narrrow down to "great schools and under $350k", that's easy... it's where you asked for a view.

If you're down at Mopac and Slaughter, Circle C would be a good option. On Bee Caves, Lake Pointe is a good option. Both with exemplary schools. If you're up north Canyon Creek on 620 is a good option... you have several options with the size and price, and you just need to figure out if "the view" is that important.

Look on austinhomesearch.com and put in Northwest Austin and 350k maximum in the critieria. I briefly did, and came across a couple of candidates (one even had a nice view!) The AISD schools are really good in that area, and the RRISD schools are even better. Good luck!

Do an MLS search on zip codes 78733 (along Bee Cave) and 78734 (Lakeway). Both areas have great schools and views. I'm not sure you'll find that kind of square footage for that kind of money but it's not impossible. I just looked at 78734 and saw one listing with 4 BR and 2958 sq ft and a little under a 1/2 acre for $350K.

The easiest way is to go to trulia.com and do a search based on your criteria. Then use the large map function (upper right corner) to zoom in on the areas with the good schools. You can tell from the map which home are in a position to have good views (i.e. no one in the back yard, backing up to green belt etc)

The area around anderson mill rd and 183 has lots of canyon views. Canyon creek is good, but the drive is a pain

I'd say the Great Hills neighborhood around Arboretum -- or just slightly north would be good. School are awesome there.

Lake Pointe. Lake Travis ISD, very similar houses, prices and views as Steiner, and off of Bee Cave Road.

Zip code is 78738, if you want to do an MLS search.

Im7,

I wouldn't get too "hung up" on the view factor. In my experience in looking at homes over a 10 month period, a lot of times, there is something you have to give up for that view.

Like, you could have a great view, but a fall-away lot.....with virtually no usable backyard. Or, the opposite, in that your backyard goes uphill and still is unusable.

I would pay more attention to proximity to work, kid-friendly neighborhoods, and good schools.
