What is Roadrunner that others suggest? In further checking, TW appears to be only in cahoots with DirecTV ... and ultimately Wildblue satelitte.

If this is incorrect, please advise ... but that's what I came up with once off with TW and talked direct to DirecTV rep.
Roadrunner is through Time Warner Cable. It's the same.

I think you are mistaken. Time Warner offers broadband access via cable. DSL is usually offered by telephone providers, like AT&T. Direct TV uses a satellite service. I'm pretty sure TW and Direct TV are not in cahoots since they are competitors.

Correct. TimeWarner offers broadband Internet access, phone service and TV service via cable.

You know ... you are probably right in that. The day I was scouting around and chatting with several trying to get a handle, including both T and TW for instance, I made notes as best I could. With a staticly cell phone connection, it is difficult to concentrate and make notes.

I just got off the phone with TW, and they confirm your comments. Not intentionally in my comment ... just as I recalled the notes ... out of order of course.

Based on what TW indicated, we can get both TV and 'fast' ... I presume ... internet service; for much less than what we are now paying at our location here.

But the same issue in my mind has not been fully satisfied; that being is internet ACTUALLY faster than DSL ... as TW does comment on in one of the facts I came across.

TV is TV. But 'fast' internet is another issue ... IMO. I used to have DSL, and since then, EVERYTHING we've tried held no similarity; satelitte, wireless as examples. Our hobby is genealogy, and as a result, often load old census reports, etc.. ... and to have to sit there hoping it will load for 2-3-4-+minutes just does not 'cut the mustard' for us ... having once experienced a truly fast response.

If anyone reading this is familiar with TW, and Roadrunner from what I gather, and have slow or fast comments ... would appreciate it. Am ... as of now ... leaning toward them.

TIA

Cable is much faster than DSL in almost all instances. DSL can be good if you only need 6 Mbps or less, since they offer it for $20/mo. You must have a land telephone line.

Default Time Warner rating ...

Thank you for your input; appreciate it for the valuable comment of being faster than DSL. It's been many years when we had DSL, and ever since have had to use other systems ... none even close to DSL speed.

Sure would be nice if a resident in the subdivision were to respond; relative to your " ... almost all ..." ; just to wipe out all concern on my part. In any case, I am, with your input and others of similarity, 98% or so ready to sign up with them.

Thanks again !

The neighborhood you are referring to is most likely Elm Creek. You will have 2 choices, AT&T or Time Warner in that area unless you go with wireless or satellite broadband. Since it is not really in the sticks, I highly doubt there will be any WISP providers within your range.
