I believe deathpenalty03 was.

As noted, there are several nice restaurants where one can get all dressed up and go out for dinner. Quite a few more than I mentioned.

The nation as a whole is dressing more casually. I remember when people dressed up to go to church, the airport, and restaurants. Now you dress up or down in all those areas and no one gives a second notice.

The only place I reliably see folks dressed up is charity galas. I love that aspect of them. Otherwise, nearly everywhere is Austin casual which I generally love -- but two or three times a year for the right cause, I get to dress up!

CA, how does one get invited to charity galas in Austin?

Thanks,
WBJ

Driskell will run you about $125 per person. Congress will run you about $225 per person if you're doing a wine pairing with the tasting menu. You could have a cocktail for $20 per person, but with tax and tip it would be pushing it.

Answer to #1: Do a search on non-profits in the Austin area. Might I suggest: Austin Pets Alive! | Helping People Help Pets Answer to #2 Gobs of money.

Donating to Austin Pets Alive! gets one invited to galas? Do they hold galas? Do they invite you to galas for others?
