It's not known for anything 'gay-related' if that's what you mean. Lago Vista was initially envisioned as a lakeside, retirement community. The majority of its residents are probably still seniors, but there is a growing number of young families whom have bought homes in the suburb.

My partner and I just bought a home there and haven't had any issues. But we also don't go around announcing it either. It's a very friendly town though and the people are great. Lots of retired folk.

I wouldn't worry too much. I don't live in Lago Vista, but I just bought a home in a south Austin neighborhood which is very "mixed" racially (which basically means there are a lot of people with brown skin here, apparently that frightens some white people!) I did wonder if my partner and I would have any issues in this neighborhood. The day we moved my straight male latin neighbor came over to introduce himself and his wife, and told us all about the great neighbors, including several other gay couples on the street, and then invited us to a neighborhood party the following evening! All colors, all ages, all sexualities, all happily mingling in the community!
I wouldn't worry too much at all. As long as you're not fornicating in your front yard, I'm sure nobody's gonna care.

Jeez, isn't that the point of buying a house so far out?

I just moved to Lago and I LOVE it here. I wish I knew ANY gay people that lived here tho but I did see a gay couple at the Super S today so there is hope. If anyone reads this and is gay and wants to network, please feel free to add me on facebook @ Sean Marshall James

Doubt you will find any gay unfriendly places in Austin and the surrounding areas. I have a farm Bastrop and there are 2 lesbian couples on our road and nobody seems to care one way or the other. They are just neighbors like everyone else.

Another neighbor who is 87 years old always mentions that they are lesbians like I forgot. lol I think he thinks its a little scandalous...but in a good way. lol
