And it may not be better for many years.

But don't worry, marketing will continue to portray Austin as a lush oasis.
I guess eepstein's finally brainwashed you on the whole "Austin is paying off all magazines to be at the top of the best list for ____".

I don't know eepstein. One person on city-data is not going to sway me. Just because I realize that Austin has a great marketing campaign and probably gets more media-love than it now deserves doesn't mean I'm brainwashed. And unlike a few others here, I've never claimed there's a conspiracy. But I'm not going to deny the obvious either.

the word "conspiracy" holds a negative connotation.

Let's just call it what it is: collusion.

Who in Austin has gotten 9" of rain this year? I just heard a week or so ago that those of us in far west Austin have fared much worse (I'm in Steiner Ranch). One of the news channels reported that as of September 30th, Mansfield Dam had received a whopping 3.5" of rain for the entire year. Normal rainfall for that same period was reported as 27". And I know we haven't received any rain here in October.

ETA that we may have received some rain this past weekend; I was out of town. But I doubt it was anything measurable.

Are you this negative in every day life or just here on the forum?

Sept. 6 of LAST year, we got 13" in our back yard. We haven't gotten 9" in the entire time since!

That's why I'm saying we will get more rain this year. Even if we get 12 inches instead of 9 (or 3.5), we will fare better.

The good news is they upped the rainfall estimates to 2 to 6 inches and it will mainly fall in the Highland Lakes Basin.

I estimate that Lake Travis will probably rise around 10 feet from these rains. If we could just get the streams flowing again that would be nice.

Of course we're still bone dry here in Hutto. Are you in Austin Trainwreck? However, I saw the 50% for Sunday, (rain). I'm with the believe it when I see it crowd. If it does happen it will be so wonderful.
