Ugh, to be honest... it was California Pizza Kitchen. I guess not the worst chain, but more out of convenience than anything. The Hawaiian pizza was pretty lame, and the place was full of mall going teenagers.

Now, before that we had a great dinner at one of our favorite places -- South Congress cafe. Mmmm venison meatloaf. My wife's pork chops and polenta were even better. During the week there is a 20% discount if you eat at the bar area... a really good deal.

Veggie Heaven on the drag near Guadalupe and MLK. I go there once a week with my vegan friends and it's not spectacular but I love it, (and I'm a meat eater!) the Curry Bun alone is worth a visit.

My husband took me to Morelia's Mexican Grill for my birthday. Margarita's are very good - not too strong or weak and not too sweet or tart.

Burrito was good and excellent rice on the side but the queso - blah! It was your typical nasty velveeta queso. Queso is a deal breaker for me so we won't be going back. I so wanted to like the place too.

Oh - a week before that was Hudsons on the Bend. Whole 'nuther kind of experience. Those duck diablos, the lamb shank, etc. are pretty amazing. Good to have that $75 off coupon.
YES!!!! I have been to Guerso's three times and every time I have been underwhelmed and cannot understand why everybody loves it so.

Funny you should mention Hopdoddy's because I do believe that was the last place we went - a few weeks ago - we don't eat out all that much anymore. Anyhow, Hopdoddy's is SPECTACULAR and is worth the hype. I've had the Greek burger (made with Lamb), Shroom Burger, and some Cheeseburger with barbeque sauce (can't remember the name) and each one was indescribably delicious. Really the best burgers I've ever had, anywhere. Period.

Now that I think of it, we did go to the new Trudy's in Dripping Springs (Trudy's Four Star) more recently than that. And it was really disappointing. We went during their soft opening - so all food was half price which was good, because had it not been it would have been really overpriced. They are trying to do too much with the menu there and consequently the execution of the dishes was just off. We will not go back. We'll keep going to the Trudy's South Star and enjoy their reasonably priced Tex Mex.

The last restaurant I went to was Austin's Pizza on Guadalupe. Ordered a large margherita pizza and it was decent. A bit soggy but tasted good.
Red Robin - for some reason we just like it. They have good burgers, unlimited fries and I get the cobb salad with potato soup.

Pok e Joes. Most underrated barbeque in the area. Been eating it since the late 1970's.

Just had Rudy's BBQ for the second time this week. I'm new here...just moved to Austin 3 weeks ago. We can't get enough of their brisket!! and that creamed corn!! they just don't have BBQ even half as good in FL.

Assuming my 'emergency' stop at Chick fil A doesn't count, it was Kerbey Lane for breakfast on Sunday.

Which Red Robin? The one on Brodie and 290 was out of business a few months ago, apparently had not been paying their bills.
