As in what things to visit? Where to stay? Where to eat?

Since you are new to Texas, I'd recommend to taking a tour of the state Capitol while you are here. There are many different types of things to do so you might want to include the types of things you typically like to do.

Go to Franklin BBQ and the restaurant called the Oasis (not as much for the food, but for the view). It was recently ranked the number one restaurant in the US for sunset views). Walk down South Congress during the daytime.

If you are new to Texas, you might want to go to the Bob Bullock museum in Austin. You can take in an I-Max, but also get a good amount of Texas history. The museum is done well, and you can learn a lot about the state.

We were just down in TX welcoming my son back from Iraq and stayed in Austin for a night then went back and did a duck boat tour that was very fun and interesting. It starts out in front of the visitors center and goes throughout the city then down into Lady Bird Lake (I believe) for a little cruise, then back up on land. I LOVED Austin! That is by far the coolest place I have ever been in my life!
