A bit out of the way, but I've twice had an excellent prime rib at the Terrace Cafe in the Wynn Hotel/Casino out in Las Vegas.

It's $30, and includes an appetizer, the entre, a side, and dessert.

There are plenty of cheaper prime rib dinners out there, but they aren't that good.

I order Prime Rib at Rudy's every now and then. I know, I know, I'm going to catch flak for this. But you know what? It ain't bad.

Go order a 1/2 pound slice, which is about $10, and which you can cut effortlessly with the plastic fork and knife, and tell me it's not delicious enough.

Man, now I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. I know what I'm having for lunch today!

I had a "sample" piece of the prime rib at Rudy's the last time I was there. I was almost shocked how good it was. I plan to order a piece in the near future.

USDA Prime is the best but I don't think it is available in the grocery stores, at least the ones I shop, but I still look for that grade.

When preparing this cut, do not coat the meat with any seasonings except for salt and that is optional since the meat will speak for itself.

I prefer a rare cut so I cook to an internal temp of 120.

One other thing I have noticed is the grocery stores are going more and more to a boneless version. I don't know why because the flavor is less in my opinion. Good luck,.
Central market carries prime. It isnt a prime rib unless it is prime. However even among prime, the marbling can vary. Im sure you know, but for everyone else it is called a standing rib roast. It is also the same cut that ribeyes are cut from.

houstons is a chain. They just dropped the franchise as far as I know. The food is mostly the same.

I love austin but I agree with xladylawx. Im from the midwest and the beef here is terrible compared to midwest beef. When I go home my parents get better beef from the regular grocery store than just about any restaurant here.

Ruth's chris and sullivans are the two best. I know a lot of people love austin land and cattle, but their ribeyes are simply not that good.

Ok maybe I havent had it in a long time, but rudys prime rib is like shoe leather, but if you eat the lean brisket or the turkey then that is probably why the prime rib is ok.

Like I said, it cuts effortlessly with a plastic fork and tastes great.

It is a bit weird, I must admit, eating it off of a paper place mat and without the pomp and circumstance of an expensive restaurant with a waiter and loaded baked potato on the side. But if you just want to enjoy the good taste of a "good enough" prime rib, it's the frugal man's answer to that craving.
