El Meson, Curra's are both good. My favorite, Nueva Onda is no longer in business unfortunately.

Not exactly South Austin, but Rosie's tamales at SH71 and 620 are very good. They have regular and "spicy." We buy several dozen every year at New Years.

I am told that the cooks from Nueva Onda are running a trailer (yellow and green) in the parking lot on the southwest corner of Pleasant Valley and Cesar Chevez street! Lots of folks in my neighborhood really miss Nueva Onda too.

Also told that the trailer in the parking lot of the gas station just east of Curra's on Oltorf also has excellent tamales.

(who tells me this? Various people on the local list serve!)
