OMG I went to 4 hair cutters already since I've been here and most of the stylists have had obnoxious attitudes and did a horrible job on my hair. I had to keep returning to different stylists at different locations to get it fixed and now I am having to grow out the hair thanks to a liberal use of "thinning shears" . My hair is already thin to begin with .
Any suggestions on WHERE to get a stylish man's hair cut?
School at UT starts for me today and now I have to show up with ultra thin chemotherapy looking hair style. (I am gay so obviously hair style counts)

Next bad thing - what is the deal with all the stinky homeless people coming up to me and asking me for money. I've only been asked for money once in my life when I lived in other cities now I am being asked on a weekly basis.

I will also post an exciting review of my first day of school at UT later today.

My wife and I have been here for over a year and a half and have had the same problem. I'll keep track of this thread...

I have run into this problem also up here. We tried a F. Sams for my kids and they gouged my sons hair and scalp so bad he bled and we had to report him to the cosmo-board! My hubby has had good luck at a Sports Clips in Cedar Park (don't know if you want to go that far) with Kristian and then one of my other guy friend goes their and he sees a gay guy there and had good luck. Take the kids ti Cool cuts by Lakeline mall good and they are working on fixing up the hair for the boys! Grandma has also gone there and been pleased. They work on adults but the place is geared for kids.

There's bound to be someplace along the Drag or near campus that can perform a decent haircut. Ask around.

And as to the homeless beggers - welcome to Austin! I'm a UT grad but haven't lived there in 20 years - some things never change, however. LOL.

artsyguy,
How was school?
So far, you seem disappointed with just about every aspect of Austin.
I'm wondering what you think of UT.

Of course I am not disappointed with Austin. I love where my apartment is located because it is in the center of shopping centers and food centers. A starbucks and library are literally across the street from where I live too.

My day at UT was fun. Lots of hot dudes. It was a hot day but I made it alright without too much of a sun burn. I went out and bought some moisturizing sun block for next week. The FREE bus ride to school was cool. The people are friendly, some lady helped me find my class. It was really crowded at times but most of the crowd were really attractive guys so I am not complaining at all.

Glad to hear it.
By the way, regarding haircuts: there is a place called Hairy Situations on South Congress.
I've heard it's great if you're willing to pay the price.
