I've looked on line and cannot figure out which zoo is bigger and or better. Can anyone provide any insights?

Well from what I understand Waco is a real zoo( scouts spent the night there and loved it) vs CoTexas is more a shelter type zoo been there like Waco more but the other is closer. SA zoo is really good in the bird dept.

I've been to the zoo in Waco and it's good for a couple of hours walking around.
It's big enough that you wouldn't consider it a waste of a drive going up there.
Not a bad zoo at all. Just look for the hippo signs with "Follow me to the zoo"

Weather is supposed to get nicer (warmer) as the week wears on so it should make for a nice day outside.

Sorry but I don't know anything about the Capital of TX zoo.

San Antonio has an excellent zoo as does Houston and Ft. Worth!

Capitol of TX zoo is not a traditional zoo. It's in the woods off a dirt road and it's not very big which is why we liked it. I think we spent a little over an hour there.

I haven't been to the Waco zoo but I have heard a lot of great things about it.

The Austin zoo near Oak Hill is awesome for little ones. For bigger kids, I would go to San Antonio unless I was up in Dallas and then I would go to the Dallas zoo. I don't think I would make the drive to the Waco zoo as it's not that great compared.

We've never been to Waco so we thought it might be an interesting day trip. Plus I think ticket prices are much more reasonable than the SA zoo.

But the extra hour driving there and back with the gas prices probably offset the ticket prices. SA is about an hour and Waco is about 2 hours. That's an hour there and an hour back of gas (and wear and tear on the car)... but yes, an interesting day trip.

When my kids were little we were members of the SA zoo. If you go more than once year, it is a good deal!
