It seems that way, doesn't it? I hope that they don't make town lake into a parking lot.

Big dawgs or mostly out of town'ers. Some are investors, that don't even live here, but then make'em rental property.

These prices will only help and really start rising the prices of home's and properties. Can you just feel the BOOM that is coming to Austin?

The whole point of high-density development is that there will be FEWER parking lots, as cars will not be needed. If the people living in the downtown condos work downtown (or near it), then they can very easily get around without ever using a car. It's amazing that this city has become so suburbanized that people can't imagine life without an automobile.

As for what is being "torn down" for the new towers, most of them are being developed over what was previously a surface parking lot.... not a big loss. Surface parking in downtown is a complete waste of space. Build some parking garages (above or below ground) and maximize the space there is to work with. The new Whole Foods has done a very good job of this.

The only issue I see is not than many people work downtown. People in Texas seem to love having a car. It is not like a New York or Chicago.
