Default Feedback on middle schools in RRISD

Can someone offer insight on how these middle schools like Noel Grisham and Chisholm Trail compare to the top-rated ones Canyon Vista / Cedar Valley...we are planning a move and our oldest will be starting middle school next year....any insight/feedback would be valuable. Thanks!

Lots of opinions in this thread:

Grisham vs Canyon Vista

I wasn't aware that Cedar Valley was perceived as "top rated". (What HS does it flow into?)

This. Both Canyon Vista and Grisham feed to Westwood HS, which, in part, make them highly desirable.

Cedar Valley feeds into Round Rock H.S. Although that may change back to McNeil H. S. I've always considered Cedar Valley top rated.

Great Schools. org scores:

Canyon Vista - 10
Noel Grisham - 8
Cedar Valley - 10
Chisholm Trail - 8

I would pay attention to the H.S. it feeds into. My neighbor transferred her son from RRHS to Westwood and he was miserable. He's back at RRHS. You really need to look into what you and your child want out of a HS. Westwood is an excellent HS but it's extreme with academics.

All I can say is I had kids at Chisholm Trail MS and Round Rock HS and now they both go to private school. Not everyone will have the same experience, but for me my kids are way happier and doing better academically now. CTMS was decent, but RRHS is an armpit.

I agree with others that you want to look at the HS options as well since middle school is over in a short amount of time.

Everything is subjective, of course, but Mc Neil is often considered just behind Westwood. So if your kid isn't cut out for the extreme academics and competition of Westwood, but you are looking for an excellent HS, Mc Neil might be a good choice.

I have not investigated about Chisholm trail, but did some about Grisham since we were comparing it with Canyon Vista. The reviews were not satisfactory, so decided to stick with CVMS.
