Well, we scored about 1/3" out of the past 30 hours. We won't complain, although the Scottie-girl was a bit confused by the sleet blanketing the deck.

And this morning's 'rain' wasn't enough to show up in the gauge. Just got everything damp. Oh, well; glad east of 35 is getting some good precip. I reckon parts of east Texas could do without rain for a while!

Yeah, I'm loving my moist and green yard and foundation...looks like a good amount of rain on the way from tonight until Saturday!

I finally got a proper rain gauge; it showed 1/4 inch for last night's rain. I'm glad to see it continuing. I think the rain we have had will mean that we have much more in the way of wildflowers this year than we had last year.

I think you are right. I was in south texas 2 days ago, and the wildflowers were already blooming (bluebonnets and indian paintbrush). On February 16th! It should be a lengthy and impressive display this year.

Unfortunately there is also another possibility... if we get a late cold spell, it could kill off the early blooms and buds. That's happened before.

That would be bad, yes. The trees are also budding early -- my red oaks are starting to bud already, and the hackberry/chinaberries that I've seen are already starting to leaf.

Well now...looks like that rain gauge is going to get a bit of a workout. 1am and it looks like quite a bit more to come! Looks like I'll be cutting the grass in a day or two!

Wow, isn't this rain great? I heard pounding rain and some hail last night as well. I hope this starts filling up the lakes.
