Default Need Police Volunteer

I am a mentor for a young boy (6th grade) who is interested in being on the SWAT team in the future. I would love to get a member of the SWAT team or an officer to come and talk to him about what it takes to get there and the career path. I think it would be a real motivator. Is it possible to arrange this and if so, who can I contact?

I would try calling the police station directly. My only experience is that I called my local fire station when my son was young and had concerns about what he would do in a fire. They actually sent out a firefighter to talk to him and help make a plan. Maybe the police would offer something also.

I have a friend whose husband is on the APD, I will try to ask.

Call 311 and ask to speak to your APD District Representative. 311 will know your district based on your address.

When I was in High School.........many years ago......It was "required" that I interview a Texas State Trooper. It was easy.....you contact them........they love to do it.

Then, when I was "oldish," and went back to school, I had to interview a "bigwig" about a program in the city I lived......again, that mayor was happy to do it.

Ask, and usually, you shall receive........that is probably the funnest thing they get to do!

Gotta agree. It doesn't hurt to ask.

I scored an interview as a teenager with a local Houston billionaire/energy tycoon by having enough gumption to simply walk up to him at a book signing and ask.
