Hello,
I have searched the forum but not found anything about this commute. I went to grad school at UT Austin afew years ago and appreciate all the advice I got back then, so thank you! Looking for a little more info about this specific commute.

We are looking to possibly move back to SW Texas, specifically New Braunfels. Much of my work would be in Seguin, but one day a week I might have to go to Williamson County (be there at about 10:30 AM, leave at 5:30pm or possibly later). The work would be all over the county, most likely Round Rock / Cedar Park.

So, how terrible would that be just one day a week? Is 130 toll road very crowded? I would be willing to pay if the toll road helped a bit, but was thinking I'd have to alot 2 hours to the commute. What do you yall think?

Thanks in advance!

Toll road will make that commute fly. You'll be able to pick it up south of where traffic gets bad and shoot straight to Georgetown... just be careful you're not going to fast!

If you taking the Tollway you'll fly in both directions but it will come at a price around $6.40 each way or $12.80 round trip or around $10.24 with a TxTag discount

Definitely take the toll road! (We live in northern Williamson County and travel to San Antonio frequently to visit family.) It will cost, but the cost is worth it any time during the week (and some weekends that there's likely to be a lot of traffic because of events just off I35).

VERY little traffic on it, and you can go 75 the whole way. You can even take 130 to 45 and head over to Cedar Park without stopping.

Wow thanks yall! Sounds like it won't be so bad just once a week. $10 is totally worth it for all the clients I'd see up there. I'm guessing that would make it about 1.5 hours... not so bad. Thanks yall!

It takes us two hours from the ranch just off I35 two exits north of 130 to our son's in Northeast San Antonio, and an hour to get to ABIA on 71. So an hour and a half to Round Rock sounds about right - maybe less.

From Gattis School to my family in Converse (NE SA), it's ~75-80 minutes assuming ~75mph on 35 and ~80-82mph on the tollway. Depending on how far you are from 35 in NB, it's only ~30 miles (~25 minutes) to the tollway from NB and then it's ~35 minutes to RR, ~40 to Georgetown. So it could be as short as an hour depending on where you're going if you don't hit traffic on 35. Cedar Park/Leander could be a different story though. I don't think 130 to 45 across is worth the cost unless you're entering Austin between 6:30-8:30am. Anytime after that, 35 to 183 should be sufficient.

Re: the tollway... I had a bunch of family travel up it this weekend for my son's birthday party. Heard from quite a few that there were multiple police cars patrolling it (even in the rain). I've traveled up/down it 40+ times and have only seen two cops ever patrolling. I would assume this weekend was due to Spring Break and SXSW, but just mentioning it.
