Top Communities for Stay at Home Mom's
Hello. We plan to move to Austin, and one of the most important things to make life easier for us would be social networking. Can you list some of the top communities for stay at home moms?
Would you consider Dripping Springs to be a part of this?

It seems like there are a lot of communities that have stay at home moms in the Austin area. I can vouch for my community (Highpointe) which is in the Dripping Springs area. They are very involved with all kinds of activities. In fact I think they work more then the people whole actually go to paying jobs

we are also going to look in Dripping Springs, i am a SAM, here and would like to be around other mom's as well....
I have heard it is beautiful in DS, a little further out, but that is great for us....also that it has beautiful hills and scenerey.
We are looking into Belterra, and will be making a trip ther next month.
Just curious why you think the Steiner Ranch comment woulds be an issue?? Whil we have not been there yet, from reading the post it may sound like the OC of Austin, please inform me if i am wrong. Also i think it is a little more money, although we are looking to spend $500k or less, but we want 4000+ sq. ft, not on top of each other!! and we do NOT want live in a similar place to OC. That is why we are wanting to leave where we are, we call it the smaller version of OC (Temecula) it is just not what we want for our little ones......IMO

Look in Meridian, David Weekley builds in there and has homes in the 400K range that have large lots.

There are lots of SAMs where we live in Round Rock. In fact there is a moms club here but we haven't gotten involved with it yet. There is plenty of housing to choose from that fits your needs as well.

I don't know about "stay at home" or dripping springs
But we are moving to Leander soon and we just found out 68% of the people who live in Leander are married couples and that it is full of young children. I bet plenty of those are stay at home moms. I will be!
Leander also has an excellent school district.

I was just kidding. Its just that Steiner Ranch is one of the communities that have been discussed a lot in this forum. There are fanatical Steiner Ranch fans (my wife's one of them. ) and hard-core critics in this forum. Lot of people have compared it to OC (i've never lived in OC, so i don't know). One great point about Steiner is its excellent schools. The price range you are looking for will work in Steiner. But I you've already decided against Steiner, so it doesn't matter.

I don't know much about Steiner...I live in Northwest Hills, so to me it just seems really far out there. I don't know anyone who lives there, either. Most of my friends are 78731, 78703 and 78746. When I think of an Austin OC, I definitely think Westlake.
