Believe me the scale does work. I moved west looking more comfortable weather but experiencing it is really nice... yesterday we had a very warm day with a high of 90F but dry with a dew point of 41F. With a slight breeze it was very comfortable and we did not even turn on the AC.

When I lived in Texas the AC was usually on for any temp over 80.

For comparison, my cousin lives in Southeast Texas which is a LOT more humid than Austin, and she was recently in NYC. She said that the humidity in NYC was unbearable on some days.

Yes, that's how it is. When I lived in Southern CA, we didn't even have A/C. It was not a problem. If I didn't have A/C in Texas, I'd have to hurt myself. I can do without the heater, but not the A/C.

I've been to NYC during a few 100 degree days and it can be totally oppressive. Add to that the rotting stench of the trash of 20 million people and well, you've got yourself one crabby, hot and moist crevice...
