Hello,

We are looking to move to Georgetown from California (yes, another Cali transplant). We visited a month ago and loved it. We would really like to find a place with easy water access for kayaking. Can you kayak on Lake Georgetown? Are there homes with water access to the Lake?

Thanks!

I believe the entire shoreline of the lake is controlled by the corps of engineers....no private access that I am aware of. I believe there is a concession or two, but there didnt even used to be that. The lack of development keeps the lake very nice, though. It can be a bit crowded for canoeing and kayaking, though, as it is (or at least used to be) a very popular ski lake. It is relatively narrow, too. The upper end will have some areas too tight/shallow/obstructed (trees) and they are much better for non-motorized craft (still some bass boats, but not near as hazardous).

You will have to check out the developments that are just outside the Corps land, I think there are several very nice ones.
