In speaking with district offices, my impression is that they are strict about transfer policies and that the date to apply is earlier than this.

Even so, persistence sometimes pays off and all you can do is keep trying. Talk to people in the school and in the administration and then ask who else you can talk to. Maybe your circumstances will fall under an exceptional category.

Best of luck.

Thank you Capcat for your time I really appreciate it. Mc Callum really is a great school and I really hope my Transfer Request gets approved. Concerning the date deadline it was today and I didnt even know. The bad part is that Mc Callum is declared frozen. But hopefully my Transfer gets accepted I can only hope for the best. Thank you!

McCallum is on Newsweeks list of top highschools in America (roughly top 3% in the nation). I feel that the reason many people feel that McCallum is not as good as some of the other schools (or "scared") is that it is a very diverse school. It really is a ~25% white, ~25% black, %25 hispanic, ~25% asian school. Test scores are great though.

i know more than one very wealthy family (folks who could afford tuition at any private school in town without strain) who send their kids to Highland Park Elementary (the most private-school like of any elementary in AISD) and to private middle school by-passing Lamar, and THEN onto McCallum High!!

They have reported great satisfaction with McCallum, particular the Fine Arts Academy and the AP teachers. I will be taking a very close look at McCallum for my own children.

OP: regarding transfers, because Reagan is doing so poorly, you may be able to transfer to McCallum even though it is "frozen" due to federal regulations involved in the No Child Left Behind Act. Good luck!

okay so im trying not gving up trying to get in Mc Callum HS... and 1st on the waiting list getting into Lanier HS but I worry that as a senior i doubt that any senior enrolled in the school will leave. Do any of you think that maybe in my circumstance it will fall under exceptional category coming from Reagan HS? that under the " No child is left behind act" I would have a chance into getting accepted into Mc Callum if not Lanier even though the school is frozen?...
