I know lots of people say this, but most people don't just "drop" while working. They get gradually disabled or have long illnesses, making it impossible to work. It is so necessary to plan for this and have a cushion of savings to live on when this happens. My husband is completely disabled at age 62, and I can't work because I am now his caregiver. I am so grateful that we started saving as soon as we started working, in our 20s, and spent rather frugally all those years. If we had been living on the edge, saying we would just work until we drop, how would we be living now?

It's almost creepy to me how young Austin has become. When we go to San Antonio, at least there is a mix of ages and lots of older people.
