Default Lease Question in Austin, TX

I am leasing a house that is up for sale. My lease does not end until August 2013. If the house is sold does that terminate my lease?

Not unless your lease says something to that effect. 1) You have as much right to uphold the lease as the landlord. 2) People often buy properties for rental income and current leases are important.

Most leases where this matters do have a clause to that effect, though, because most landlords who plan to sell know in advance that they're going to try and sell.

It's usually more of a "you have thirty days" clause and not "whoops we sold it, bye!" but check your lease to be sure. If it is the latter you should also check state law as some landlords will sneak in illicit provisions with the idea that nobody will challenge them.
