Hey everyone! I'm new to the Austin forum, I had been planning a move to Hawaii for awhile but I'm running into some roadblocks. I'm opening up some options to other areas that may offer the lifestyle I'm looking for. So feel free to be brutally honest - I'm looking for some good feedback

I live in Seattle and I absolutely hate it. The weather is terrible and it's really expensive (I know Hawaii is expensive, but that's a gorgeous island so it's worth it). I want to live somewhere beautiful with a ton of outdoor activities. I am a 20 something female and I work in the travel industry. I love hiking, swimming, boating, and I'm a bit of a foodie. From my understanding, there are beautiful lakes in Austin and lots of great outdoor activities. I am trying to do research on my own to get an idea of areas in Austin that would be good for me. Can anyone offer some guidance? I would be moving there with my long-term boyfriend and my dog - so a 2 bedroom would be ideal. If you can give me an estimate on what I could expect to spend in these neighborhoods it would really help. I know that rental rates can really fluctuate but is it realistic to find a nice 2 bedroom within walking distance of fun activities for $1200 a month? Or a least a large 1 bedroom?

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my post, I look forward to reading your advice Thank you!

You will most definitely love the sunshine in comparison. Beauty.... nothing close to the PNW in my opinion and our big lake (Travis) dried up in many spots with last year's drought and many who did have lake views then had canyon views. Doesn't happen every year but something to be aware of.
The rent market seems tight right now, and to be next to fun things you probably want to look very central, depending on your interests. Job lined up?

renting in so cal is really not that bad. Maybe take a look there. If you had said you were looking for more of a small town feel, then I might recommend austin.
