Hi there yall..i currently live in amarillo, and my boyfriend and I are wanting to relocate to the marble falls/burnet area...we have 2 kids.he works in the hotel industry..i have heard mostly good things about the area..but what I want to know is, which town would be more ideal for a family? Whats the job market like? We are looking to rent a home or apartment, is there a good market for that? Is austin easy to get to? We love the area because its so lovely and theres lots of water.we want a laid back small town.but we dont know anyone down there tho, so any info at all would be great.thanks!

Rentals are scarce and expensive. The local paper did a write up on it a few months ago.
We moved here about 2 months ago and are paying a hefty rent payment for a house.
The Burnet area seems to have more for less than Marble Falls does.
The area is really pretty and we do like it.

the two towns are separated by 10-15 miles. Marble Falls is sprawling. Bunch of folks with $$$ there. I'd choose Burnet. Little more small town feel to it. Don't know anything about the job market. Good luck

I think they are really friendly but I come from N. Nevada where the overall life attitude is lousy.

Hope you have lots of cash saved up! The towns are quite expensive to live in. Real estate in places you would actually want to live is costly. You can either shop at HEB or WalMart and thats it. During summer weekends forget about getting anywhere because the roads get jammed with tourists or people going to summer camps.

Sounds like its quite opposite of where we live..im in the middle of nowhere, where theres nothing to do or see..except plains and more plains..real estate is costly here too,but probably not as costly as the area im interested in.thanks yall for the input!
