Default Any idea what to do on Memorial Day?

Does anyone have any idea what to do on Monday? I'm new to the area, I have a couple of friends visiting, and we're coming back from camping on Monday...are there any outdoor activities anyone knows about? I'm open to all things!

Renting a house boat on Lake Travis with a group of friends can always be fun. I believe Hurst Harbor still has some.

Go to a cemetery to pay respect & give thanks at any fallen veterans' graves you see.

Then go out & have fun at the lake, a park, or Barton Springs.

If anyone is looking for plans this weekend. Camp Mabry is having their Close Assault Reenacment for WW2. It's free and the museum is next door. They fired blanks and show the kids how it was done. They have a small assault reenacement at the end and allow the kids to pick up any empty shells as souvenirs. Here is a link to their poster: http://www.texasmilitaryforcesmuseum...sault-5-12.jpg

Whatever is done on this day, woven throughout should be thoughtful remembrance of those who died in service to this country. Lots of those in recent history, so it's right there, not in a time never experienced by younger generations. The living families of those who died should also be in the nation's thoughts. Sorry...I don't mean to preach, but the gravity of this day gets to me. If you've lost someone like that, the memory never leaves.
