Liberty Hill, any info??
Hi am curious about Liberty Hill...Can anyone tell me about it?
Schools #1??
How close to shopping?
Scenery?
Am looking to spend about $400k, and want 4000+ sq.ft, in an upper scale development, if possible? We are really interested in Dripping Springs, and have heard it is more hilly and scenic, and we were looking into Belterra/HillPointe, if that helps....
Thanks!!

Far away. Easy access to toll road 183 and old 183. Closest shopping probably be Leander. Big time shopping will be Cedar Park.
Lots of flat land.

4000+ sq ft for $400k is going to be hard to find in Dripping Springs and Liberty Hill. You might be able to get something in Ledgestone or Belterra in DS but most the properties that size are going to be around $450k and up. On the up side there will not be so many homes that the decision will be difficult. You will have more choices if you are willing to come down around 3500+ sq ft.
Liberty Hill is located North of Austin and about an hour to hour & half of from Dripping Springs and has more flat land. DS is southwest of Austin and on the edge of the beautiful hill country and convenient to Lake Travis and surrounding attractions such as Fredricksburg, Wimberley,San Antonio and several wineries in the area. I think both have reasonable access to shopping but DS also has better access to downtown Austin if that is a factor.

Look into Crystal Falls in Leander. I think you might like it. Schools are great. Its hilly and very pretty. Lake Travis is maybe 5 mins away.

More like 15 min away. Closest public park access will be out in Jonestown to Lake travis.

Texastea, thanks for the Visual....looks nice. I had a previous post, and someone stated that Leander is nice, but more "in the thick of it" as far as traffic and busy. We are looking for a slow down.. But we are coming there on the 18th, and will be driving around as long as our kids don't kill one another in the motorhome!!!UGH!!
Dripping Springs, looks like a great place, Belterra, and you can get housing from about $420k, and we were looking to be get the most for our money under $500k. (due to the taxes) We have a lrger house now, and maybe adding one more child (5 total then) so we need the space. Plus my husband has a collection of pinball machines, and i live to sew/scrapbook, so i like a little space as well!! Thanks for the info!!

I saw a listing in Liberty Hill that had a couple of metal buildings in the back--a good place for all the pinball machines haha : )
Liberty Hill is ok...as others have said, not as scenic as Dripping Springs, but an up and coming place to live. The schools are small but good. There are some beautiful larger lot neighborhoods, some even back up to a gorgeous river (the San Gabriel, clear and rugged), but the town itself is a typical small Texas town, with a wide highway going through it...you'll just have to check it out. It would be a safe, friendly community and definately a place to slow down. Shopping would be in Leander/Cedar Park or Georgetown. I'm headed to Liberty Hill right now to teach an art class ; ) I'll look for the names of some of those neighborhoods...

Liberty Hill is by far one of the best little towns to live in the whole state of Texas ! I have read it's flat and so on I am not sure how many of you have been to liberty hill.It certainly is not flat the land is rolling and right on the edge of the hill country and it is very close to numerous lakes rivers and streams. The little town is growing and is growing fast very soon you will see a new Sonic,McDonald's,Bushes Chicken ,Mr Gaits pizza, HEB has bought the corner of 183 and hi way 29,cvs drug store has bought land the list is large. Liberty Hill Schools are excellent and Liberty Hill has the very best sports programs of anyone in the central Texas area.Sounds like there has been allot of dripping springs Realtors wanting you to buy a house from them on this site!

Leander - If you want your children to go to one of the largest school districts in the Austin area go to Leander. I went to Leander back when it was a great place to raise a family the schools were great etc but now the schools are ranked ok but I Moved to Liberty Hill to get away from there Schools. big city problems in a small town. Crystal falls has very beautiful homes and great hill country views I guess it just depends on what you and your family is looking for.
