We camped here TPWD: Mustang Island State Park as a family. We drove all the way to the end and were alone most of the time. We had to drive to the showers/restrooms at the park entrance or walk to a port-a-potty at the next campsite. Our campsite had a rinse shower, a concrete slab and a picnic table. Most people chose to camp at the front, closer to the facilities. We were able to build a campfire on the beach.

A few weeks ago, my husband took our boy camping there and the sand was really loose...he got our suburban stuck several times...people were driving around pulling people out. So a 4-wheel drive may be necessary to reach the less crowded end.

Its so beautiful...if our pics were on the computer I'd post a few.

Tell him to never drive on the loose part. He should only drive on the part that is slightly wet.
