Any fun things going on that weekend that only locals know about? My husband and I are coming for a quick 2 nite stay and would love to experience any art, music, festivals, etc. that your city has to offer.

TIA

Check out Austin360.com

This site has been a good site to find out most of the "locals-only" type of events and since Austin is more like a small town than a city.

We locals aren't allowed to tell out of towners about the really cool stuff.. You should go to Chili's at the Mall... That's where the action is...

I would definately go to La Zona Rosa and listen to the following vocalists:

GetTix.Net

Other cool things to do for a couple of days:

-- Have drinks at the Hyatt and watch the bats at dusk
-- Eat Amy's ice cream
-- Have a real chicken friend steak at Hill's Cafe
-- Eat BBQ at Donn's BBQ at the Y in Oak Hill
-- Spend a couple of hours at the Bob Bullock Museum of Texas
-- See some art at Laguna Gloria
-- Take a walk on the Town Lake Hike & Bike trail because all of the foods I recommended have fat, triglycerides, chloesterol and all the other stuff the doctors want us to avoid.

Hahaha- Thanks, I can not wait to eat all that fatty food, and to see what everyone loves about Austin for myself.
