I don't have much else to say on this topic except that I was driving from Lakeway to just south of the river today and noticed 3 different cars run very red lights once I exited mo-pac at Barton Skyway. This doesn't even include the various traffic incidents I witnessed prior to that point. It kills me that people are so selfish when driving.

Some idiot did the same thing to me 2 days ago. I had the green light to cross 79 and was just going through the light when an old man who had been stopped for his red light, decided that he needed to go. He waved at me as I slammed on my brakes to avoid t-boning him.

Yep, there are quite a few idiot drivers in Texas. Even if I have the right of way and a green light, I still slow down and look both ways for those a-holes who don't.

We don't have enough traffic enforcement so people keep getting away with it and so they keep doing it. After nearly getting rear ended a couple of times I quit stopping at yellow lights and I'm always amazed when I look behind me and see 2 or three cars when I think I just just barely made it (legally).

I am in CT. and I hear ya loud and clear about the red light thing. It happens here on a regular basis. What I have never understood is exactly how long are red lights set for before they change to green?? Is there a certain amount of time a person should sit at a red light before "getting it" that perhaps the light is stuck? Do they get stuck?? We have some here in town that are almost 2-3 min. long and others that change so quick that you can get stuck in the middle of the change. Confuses me that is for sure. I don't think all people are selfish about how they drive as much as they are impatient with how these lights are actually timed.

I think one reason running red lights is so common in Texas is because really long red lights are so common. If one misses a light where the entire cycle is short, then waiting for the next green is not too bad. But where you have 2 to 3 minutes, maybe longer to wait for 4 different dedicated left turn signals, people get more impatient.

The red light cameras were supposed to reduce that risky behavior, but instead they seem to have mostly caused an increase in rear end collisions, not to mention introducing a new level of enforcement for people to ignore.

In the past couple of months I've seen cops hiding out underneath 183 at Anderson Mill and McNeil, trying to catch red light runners -- I am happy to see them there. I am shocked by the number of people who choose to run already-red lights coming the opposite direction when I'm waiting for a left-hand turn. I've never lived anywhere where red light running is so prevalent.

Those red octagon things on the silver poles, they mean stop also. I see way too many rolling stops. Its chronic and annoying. Dont get me started on turn signal usage or the extreme lack of.
