Zen is really the only place in town so most areas where Zen isn't would work. Since Wiki Wiki Teryaki closed, there isn't really another Japanese fast food place around.

Default japanese fast food

the rent might be too high, but i think the big condo/retail complex on south congress just north of ben white would be killer location. you can pull right up to the curb and eat in or take out. i would probably come in every other night if you get some good garlic ahi.

With the economy so bad for so long, most of the big strip mall areas have available space for rent. Obviously you need a location with good traffic connections.

If it were me, and I had a decent budget, I'd get a commercial real estate broker involved. They'll have information on local traffic surveys, etc.

If it were me, and I had limited budget, I'd hit the bricks... get out and drive around and see what looks interesting.

Southpark Meadows has many long vacant restaurant spots. There's two just between Jason's Deli and Waterloo. They'd probably take anybody at this point that can go 6 months without bouncing a rent check.

What I want to see is a decent place where they serve ramen. And I don't mean that instant crap, I mean the actual Japanese kind. I havent had REAL ramen since I lived in Tokyo.

For some reason, I think a place just opened that focuses on ramen. Maybe some Google-fu will find it.

There was Michi Ramen on Anderson, but they've closed the trailer down so they could look for a brick and mortar. Kome on Airport also serves ramen, but it's not their sole focus.

Zen, How Do You Roll, and Bonsai are the only 'fast food' Japanese restaurants I can think of in town. There's a few trailers floating around too.
