Default How to find a Moderator?

I wanted to locate a Moderator for the boards here to ask a question as to what would be okay to post?

I have a friend who's well-known in the Austin computer (Linux) community, and who has done a lot for underpriviledged kids (with computer donations). He's fighting cancer right now and needs some financial help.

I was just wondering if I could post a thread about him here with a link to the webpage that details everything and the donation button?

I just thought I'd ask before I post - thanks!

I just flagged this for moderators attention, requesting that they comment, I'm sure one will be along any minute now.

Sounds like advertising, may not be allowed.

Send me a PM, I'll donate.

Unfortunately I don't think "cause" threads are allowed, since it would be hard to verify and validate, and if they were effective, they would proliferate and overwhelm the boards.

I think Social Networks and real life Family/Friends, such as the network within which your friend is already well known, would be the most appropriate avenues of pursuit.

Also, it may be permissible to start a thread about an Austin article (with a link) that describes and promotes an effort of this kind. An article about your friend that tells people what they can do to help. That would be an indirect call to action supported by a more general discussion of the topic itself.

Just thinking out loud here sort of. But I may be wrong so we'll see what the mod says.

Steve

I suggest you look to the Administration Forum (bottom of the C-D index page) for this kind of info. You can also find the current list of moderators there.
