Specifically for mainframe programmers with over 20 years experience.

TIA

I'm married to a programmer, though not mainframe, and the competition for jobs is tough. UT graduates tons of folks who love Austin and want to stay, and we have a huge influx of experienced Californians vying for jobs, along with lots of Indians. Friends of mine have moved to Houston because IT jobs are more plentiful and better paying than what they could get here.

Granted, this is strictly anecdotal, and skill sets can definitely change a person's outlook.

You can check out the jobs forum at Craigslist to get a feel for some people's experiences with job hunting here.

Tks..I did notice a lot of CA folks talking about moving there or have already moved.

Guess the Bangalorians are in every city..lol. In 2003 I even considered a name changed as my whole department was being outsourced.

I will check with Graislist, tks for the reply.

There was an article in the local paper that Dell Computers was going to be hiring something like 500 people in the near future. Sorry I did not read the article but just the headline. You might try getting ahold of this past Sundays paper for Austin as it was in the Dallas paper.
