Just curious if there are any house boat communities like in Seattle or Sausalito?

You can live in one, but I haven't seen any "communities" per se. Most of the people who are on the Lake only spend weekends on their boats while they are docked at a marina. But I am definitely not an expert on that issue, so don't quote me on all of this

You can live on them - but they are nothing like the Seattle communities. It's literally just a docked boat here that someone is living on. Not like in Seattle where you have an actual floating house, sometimes with a fenced yard etc...

Re something like Key West, blame the weather. You would burn to a crisp from the
refracting waves bouncing off the water from May-Sep....Just too hot without the moderating winds of the coasts here, not to mention there aren't really any bodies of
water here except Lake Austin. With the recent new construction and density of downtown, perhaps you'll see houseboats off Ladybird Lake within a few years(only half
kidding).
