Now that Austin's first experience with F1 is coming to a close, lets reflect. Did the race live up to the hype? Was it successful in your eyes?

I'd say Schuimacher liked it as they said he bought a ranch outside Austin while there.

COTA reported 117,000 fans thru the gates. Traffic tie ups were not as bad as predicted...according to what I've reead - except maybe getting in to the Travis County Expo shuttle lot...and Elroy Road was packed.

Overall, it looks to have xceeded expectations and the bigshots & drivers were happy & impressed.

In a word? Yes. I was there and saw people from all types of backgrounds, countries, etc., and they were all going nuts the entire time. Hearing several comments like "one of the best races I've seen in the past 5 years", "I'm definitely coming back next year", "this is definitely one of the most beautiful tracks I've seen in a long, long time" and other surprising comments, I'd say they hit it out the park!

Yes, it was a hit. I'm a converted naysayer.

It was pretty incredible and the crowd control was excellent. The venue has incredible potential and the highest possible use of the brushland...it was a home run

It is possibly my favorite big event because it took pressure off the Soco area. Central traffic was great and even local restaurants were light. Bummer for the merchants but compared to the hassles of SXSW and ACL this was fabulous!

Took Metro Rail downtown yesterday and it was packed. The Fan Fest was a lot of fun and saw lots of cool stuff. I am planning to go to MotoGP with my dad in April.
