Does anyone have any information or statistics on who is in-migrating to the Austin area? Are they Texans primarily? Or from other States primarily? Especially the retirees...where are they coming from?

I'm not a retiree, but when we moved back to texas after 6 years away, we moved to the area after having lived a huge chunk of our lives in Houston.

Makes sense to me. I, too, lived in Houston over 20 years.
Hope you love Austin!

I grew up outside of Houston and raised my kids there. When my son graduated college he wanted to move to Austin, and my daughter was in college so my husband took an early re tirement and we moved to Sun City. I love that I am close enough to Austin but far enough away that I still can enjoy the almost country lifestyle. . My neighbors are from everywhere, the south , the west the midwest... you name it, we got it here. I enjoy meeting people from all over. We even have a few that retired here from out of the country. Good luck in your decision.

My dh and I retired from a lifetime of overseas living (foreign service). I'm originally from El Paso and he from Philadelphia - we considered Denver, Charlottesville and Austin (Lake Travis area). Been here 2 years now and we both love it - no regrets. We love the live music we find in random places, the casual lifestyle and the friendliness which I've always associated with the 'wide open.' Making friends has been easy and we've found many people from many different places (our 2 immediate neighbors are from the midwest).
