So, I'm seriously thinking about signing a lease for a place near the corner of 620 and 2222. With rush hour traffic, I wondering what would be the fastest way to get to my office building on I35 just south of Oltorf? I heard both 2222 and 360 have terrible traffic during rush hour.

Let me add that I need to be farther north because I live with my boyfriend who works and goes to school in Round Rock.

For your own good and the greater good of Austin traffic, I'd recommend looking somewhere south of the river. That sounds like an absolutely awful commute with no route that'll be faster than another.

Honestly, if I worked at 35 and Oltorf, I would not be looking at places at 620 & 2222. There is no fast or easy way to get there (and back).

And I live near 620 & 2222 and love it. But I couldn't recommend it for someone who needed to make that commute every day.

Bad choice... actually, I'm not being honest....

In my honest opinion it would be a stupid choice if you have to fight normal rush hour traffic to get to I35 & Oltorf.

N Interstate 35 Frontage Rd, Austin, TX to Starbucks - Google Maps

You would be far better off finding an apartment along S. Loop 360 or East Oak Hill, SW Parkway. It would still have good access to the lake, hill country and downtown Austin as well as your work place.

I would look for places near NW Hills / Arboretum. Your commute is still going to suck, but it won't be as bad. And you have more options.

That commute during rush hour is going to take years off your life. But since you asked, IMO the best route would be east on 2222, south on 360 which turns into 290/71 east, which moves fast and you can just hop onto the 35 frontage road (N) to your workplace.

He's not exactly living close to school and work. How did he end up 'over there'? Must be a compelling reason

^^^^^I know that doesn't answer your question; so I'll chime in with the others. You will HATE making that commute daily; unless you're coming from an even worse commute. Even then, there's no point in adding miles to the drive if you don't need to.

It's actually closer than I live now. I'm not adding any, just trying to find the best way.

Both your work and your boyfriend's school are on the east axis, near I-35. Locating on the west side (620 and an anything) will put you both at a disadvantage.

Better to look along the I-35 corridor.
