I recently was informed on this site that Austin is getting a BRT system! have found some pretty interesting data online but most of the articles are from 6-7 months ago. I have heard the first half on the system is supposed to be done by early 2014. I just wanted to maybe see if you all could answer some questions for me.

Have they begun construction yet?
How many new buses are they buying, if any?
Will the routes be separate from traffic most of the way or only part of the way?

Any other contributions would be great because I am really interested in this project?

You'd have to find a way to stick two of them end to end, and then put bigger engines in, and then ...
oh, never mind.

Well, they have to think up a way for it to actually BE Rapid Transit . Perhaps they are working on a teleportation device or vaporizor to eliminate the traffic that is IN THE WAY now. (Or have they been stringing up those gondola lines and keeping that a secret?. )

Not at all...just will believe it when I see it. If it can be done by '14, why wasn't it done by '04---or '08---or '12 ??? It's not like a bunch of 60 foot buses can just hover along.
