Would this area support the move from San Diego to this area.

Well, it would be SA's club, right? And the stadium would be there? I might buy a t-shirt or something, not very likely to attend a game.

Yes, the 'San Antonio Chargers' for central Texas would guarantee Governor Rick Perry's re-election! Bexar and Travis County republicans would turn out in droves!

The defense might like the acronym S-A-C. Don't think the quarterback would go for it, however.

Would love to have San Antonio get the Chargers. I'd certainly support that here, and I think the rest of Austin would too. It's time for Texas to get a 3rd team. The Texans have been improving but are nowhere near an "exciting" team and the Cowboys are just a plain disappointment.

Problem is, I don't see any sign that the NFL is interested at all in a club moving to San Antonio. It would probably take some huge money guy like Red McCombs offering to build a new mega stadium (maybe after he sells off his F1 track) in order attract a team.

Not going to happen. The next NFL team that moves is going to LA. The NFL wants it so bad, they'll do just about anything to make it happen.

I doubt this will happen. The Texas market couldn't sustain another football team. You already have people who are die hard Cowboys and UT fans in Austin. And Houstonians are pretty pumped about the Texans the past couple of seasons now. No one in these markets would spend $200 to see a B rate team in San Antonio when they could go see their own team in their own city.

San Antonio isn't a wealthy town- they have a hard enough time to get fans to come to Spurs games. I'm always getting emails from them about 2 for 1 ticket specials or $20 for a ticket and hotdog promotion. Unless the build a Jerry World type stadium or completely rebrand the Chargers, they wouldn't sell out games.

This topic has already been talked to death on CD.

I find it strange that some people don't consider a city to have "arrived" until it has a pro sports team.
