Only 10% of registered voters actually cast a vote ?

Good Lord..you let 10% of the people decide your future......

When you get Travis county cumulative..only 9% of the voters decided for all of Travis county.

I believe that it is a record turnout for a stand-alone May election!

Maybe there should be a minimum turnout requirement? But then, may be the citizens should care enough to turn out on their own. Hard to tell what the real fix is.

If we had a legislature that really cared about education, we would fix school financing in this state and ensure my tax dollars are not used to help the Allen ISD build a $60 million stadium with free Wi-Fi. I have no idea if my tax dollars contributed to their school district, and that's an issue for me.

Your tax dollars cannot go to building football stadiums.
The local ISD has to issue bonds to build football stadiums and voted on by local residents.
There..you now have no issues.

I have a problem with YOU not knowing enough about school finance.

Allen ISD's stadium was built with bond money issued by the ISD. And the local taxpayers will repay those bonds via property taxes. They voted for it. It is their money. Not mine, not yours (unless you live in that area).

I think that is an excessive amount of money to spend on a stadium. But they are a wealthy area, have the money, and voted for it. So I don't have a real problem with it.

How do you think bonds are paid for?

Tax dollars.

Tax dollars pay off the bonds PLUS interest.

Well, from an economic standpoint, this is a very good time to be borrowing money with interest rates as low as they are.

That is completely besides the point.

He is wrong. Tax dollars go to pay off the bonds that are sold to build football stadiums. i.e. Tax dollars pay to build football stadiums.
