Calling your critics names though is just childish and immature.

An update to that article says he deleted his tweets.
But as the author points out you can never really "delete" your stuff once it gets on the internet.

He always came across as fair, balanced and objective when giving radio/TV/MSM interviews.

He should have stuck with the comment that he's supported the background checks before the current administration and will continue to do so - that said, it's easy for people to jump on twitter and say anything to public figures. Good for him for firing back.

This seems like a bit of a tempest in a tea pot to me. Yes, he could have been more measured and calm in his responses, but in today's reality of all free speech, all the time, this doesn't seem to me rise to the point of being an embarrassment or a big problem.

Even though it could have been said in a different way, he's right. So I'm not embarresed at all. And, he's right about local police not having to enforce federal immigration laws. The laws are a mess for one thing and secondly, local police should do their jobs, not be disrtacted from their jobs inquiring about immigration status. That is just more work piling on them when the federal government needs to come up with a reasonable, compassionate solution. DREAM Act is one start.

You would rather have them driving illegally without benefit of license, proof of insurance or any testing. How can that be a good thing?

@JohnGaltTx I love the fact that I have pushed the button of your lying extremist undeveloped brain. Thank God for the rest of America!

Sounds like a pretty reasonable assessment to me. Pretty civil in fact, I can think of much worse things he could have said.

Art Acevedo's remarks reveal a great deal of thoughtful level-headedness, which I find refreshing in a public servant.

The best thing would be for them to go to jail. Enforce our laws and show some tact.
