Today I had a large (11" trunk) Chinese Pistache tree removed from my back yard. I had it removed because it is (was) a non native invasive, and had been spreading little trees into my greenbelt (which I have been removing), because it is really messy, and I needed the sun in my back yard. But when it was cut down, I realized that the trunk, in the lower 4 feet, was filled with fungus. I had wondered why the canopy was not so full this year, but didn't look into it because I was planning to remove it. So I'm feeling today that I dodged a bullet, since this tree might eventually have been dangerous. Just thought I'd share that.

In it's place you should put in some bamboo with a nice big ring of eucalyptus around it!
