If you want the more sophisticated city then go for austin, but if you want a smalltown fell with the big city qualities go for SA. SA dose have all that urban feel but SA is more spread out while Austin has most of it's activies centered in one area plus most of Austins pop is professors and college students which is why it gets it's little vibe you call hype.all in all SA is my opinion cause you have all these family areas like seaworld ect.. as well as the single vibe too.

What the hell is a "rug a muffin"?

Yea, I agree. Stay away from Austin, it's downright dangerous and filthy. Feels like Bangladesh at times...we have no toilets, electricity or drinking water either.

You forgot to mention the organized crime, which demands pay-offs from all local residents.

How cute all these people are with sarcasm. I want to know how you want the suburban and modern feel? They really dont mess well. Cant really vouch for Austin because i only visited there out a hundred times. Not sure why though the city really is so overrated. San Antonio is a lot larger and seems for cosmopolitan to me. Neither city is dangerous not sure why that was even brought up.

For Austin i agree but SA is a different story i bet you wouldn't want to spend one night or even a hour at the courts.
