I'm curious on where you go out in SA beaste? Are you going to the typical Northside/Stone Oak ultra lounge scene? I have seen a good number of black male and white female couples walking around the Southtown area.

Downtown King Williams area or Stone Oak, though I go out rarely now between work and the fact that I'd rather a more urban city vibe to meet women than drive somewhere and go to a bar.

Also the type of women here generally aren't my type.

I see tons of black male / white female couples here in Austin. At least several per week. I sometimes see black male / Latina female couples too. White male / Asian female too. Interracial dating and relationships are common here, and probably somewhat common in all of Texas's large cities, notably Dallas and Houston. Way less common in rural areas.

However, I see far fewer black professional guys in IRs in Austin, especially those professionals who are such in a conservative field, discipline or environment. (To be fair, I don't see very many "professional type" black guys in Austin period...especially younger, 20s/30s.) I have no proof of this, but I suspect that more professional and/or conservative looking and acting people are more likely to prefer dating someone in their own race or ethnicity...or at least date someone who's culturally similar.

OP, if you have a fun side to you who likes to get outdoors and get active, you should be fine here as far as dating is concerned.

So my friend put it perfectly about Austin compared to other progressive/liberal cities. He called it 'pseudo-liberal'

Yea you have the Starbucks drinking hipsters, Keep Austin Weird, etc. but in terms of race relations, there's still a problem. I saw this in other threads and having been to Denver I see a stark difference in the mentality here compared to Austin.

Others have mentioned that you will only feel the progressive vibe in Austin if you're white.
